I'm a long-time computer power user, and I've found my laptop. This Lenovo is powerful, good looking, and easy to use.
For starters, right out of the box, the metal finish gives it an upscale appearance. Rather than the usual plastic, the real metal finish not only looks better, but also adds some durability to the case. Upon inserting the power pack and plugging it in, the first thing you'll notice is the monochromatic lighting. No fancy purple and blue lights for charging, this has a very steam-punk look that goes well with the metal finish.
On the first boot, you'll notice the vibrant screen, with its LED backlighting. Not only is it clear and brilliant, but the LED lighting will provide more use on a single charge. Now you're in Windows 7, and the i# and 6GB of RAM take over. Speed is apparent right from the start. I did remove MacAffee immediately and replace it with Vipre, which does speed up boot time. Easy to use. I'm not really a computer guy. Sure, I used computers every day--I work on them, play on them--but what happens inside a computer is a mystery to me. This "Lenovo Ideapad Z570" is actually the first new computer I have owned in about eight years. So that's my perspective writing this review.
Right out of the box, I thought it looked cool. I normally use my work laptop, which is "Dell Latitude E6500," and the "Levono" looks like a sports car next to my "Dell." It was much lighter and portable too. I also really love the keyboard on this "Levono." It is easy to type on and even has a ten-key, which no other laptop I use does. Nice visual design all around.
It booted up fast, found my wireless network, and I was on the internet in just a few minutes after pulling it out of the box. Ease of use gets big marks from non-computer guys like myself. I just want to push the "On" button without doing any set-up and have it ready to go. And that's exactly how it... Read more

A competitive laptop offering from Lenovo. I needed a new laptop. I always find it hard to balance the specs needed in a laptop against cost so I lapsed into my usual analysis paralysis. Enter the Z570. Many people are becoming familiar with the Lenovo brand, which is predominantly known for "work" laptops. This laptop can go toe-to-toe with the other major manufacturers in the consumer market. When asked for recommendations, I have always steered people to HP or Toshiba. The Lenovo Z570 has certainly entered the conversation for machines at this price point. The hardware in this laptop won't knock your socks off, but it has everything that I need and it should last me awhile if I treat it well.
The screen is great and watching videos is a rewarding experience. I am bummed that the resolution is capped at 1366 x 768, but the important thing is that the video is always crisp. The touchpad is super sensitive and I am still working to retrain myself, but I think I will just get an external mouse. The DVD drive opens... Read more
