I recently returned this laptop. I spent several months researching models before selecting this one. Things I liked about this machine - Blu-ray, amazing sound with powerful subwoofer, I5 processor, backlit keyboard and aluminum casing.
The first thing I noticed when put to use was the loud cooling fan. VERY loud. It starts up every few seconds, runs for a few seconds, stops and kicks in again. At the same time, the processor kicks into TurboBoost. These problems occur with no applications running. I downloaded all of the updates from Dell and flashed the BIOS which did not solve the problem. The noise was so irritating that I decided to return this machine in spite of all of the wonderful features it offered. Other users report the same problem.
